Your privacy

Version 1.1. In force from 13 October 2026.

For grown-ups: Privacy notice

The main things

  • We know very little about you. Only what we need to help you practise.
  • We never sell it. We never show you adverts.
  • Other companies can never use your answers to teach their computers.
  • Nobody can message you here, and you cannot message anyone.
  • You, or a grown-up who looks after you, can ask us to show or delete what we know.

What we know about you

  • Your first name, and the first letter of your last name.
  • Your school year, and your class.
  • Your username, and your PIN or password. We keep these scrambled, so nobody can read them. Not even us.
  • Things that make the screen easier for you, like bigger words.
  • Your answers, your marks, and the topics you are good at.
  • If you are 13 or older and sign in with your own email: your email address.

What we never ask for

  • Your birthday.
  • Your photo.
  • Where you live.
  • Anything about your health.

If anything asks you for these, it is not us. Tell a grown-up you trust.

Why we need it

We use your answers to choose your next question.

If something is too hard, you get something easier. If it is too easy, you get something harder.

A computer does this by following fixed rules. It is not AI. The same answers always get the same next question.

Your teacher, tutor or grown-up can see how you are doing. That helps them help you.

It is never used to compare you with other children.

We may also look at lots of children’s answers together, with all names taken out.

Then nobody can tell which answers are yours. It helps us make Edlumo better.

Who can see it

  • At school: your teacher, and the people at your school who look after your learning.
  • With a tutor: your tutor. They only see the children they teach.
  • At home: the grown-up whose account it is.
  • The companies that help us run the app, like the one that keeps our computers running. They must keep it safe and use it only for us.

We never sell it. We never give it to anyone to send you adverts.

Who is in charge of it

If you use Edlumo at school, your school is in charge of your information. We look after it for them.

If you use it with a tutor, your tutor is in charge.

If you use it at home, we are in charge.

How we keep it safe

Your school’s information is kept apart from every other school’s.

Most of it is kept on computers in the UK. A few are in Europe or America.

Everything is locked with codes as it travels.

If something ever went wrong, we would tell the people in charge straight away.

What you can ask for

This is your information. You can ask us to:

  • show you what we know about you
  • fix something that is wrong
  • delete it
  • stop using it

A grown-up who looks after you can ask for you. So can your teacher or tutor.

Write to contact@polymathbuns.com, or ask a grown-up to help you write.

If you are worried

Talk to a grown-up you trust, like a parent, carer or teacher.

You can also tell the Information Commissioner’s Office. Their job is to make sure everyone keeps information safe. Visit ico.org.uk.

There is a longer version of this page for grown-ups: the privacy notice.
